Rebecca is a specialist employment solicitor acting for both employers and employees in all areas of employment law.
Rebecca studied Law (LLB) at the University of Surrey and was admitted as a solicitor in January 2010. She qualified into employment law and joined a firm of specialist business solicitors in Surrey where she gained excellent experience. Following a brief spell as an in-house employment solicitor she joined Allan Janes in May 2014.
Rebecca undertakes a mixture of contentious and non-contentious employment work, including:
• Drafting employment contracts, service agreements and policies.
• Restructures, contract variations, redundancy and TUPE.
• Day to day HR enquiries - managing disciplinary and capability issues, grievances; and dismissing staff.
• Absence management issues; including long-term sickness and disability discrimination.
• Employment Tribunals and Settlement Agreements.
Rebecca has a particular interest and expertise in the requirements and effect of TUPE, a complex area many practitioners would prefer to avoid!
Rebecca also gives and provides training on employment legislation and would be very happy to liaise with any HR department or to act as a stand-alone HR department in this role.
Rebecca has recently:-
• Advised on all employment law aspects of the sale of a significant part of a client’s business, which involved multifaceted issues concerning the transfer of staff under TUPE.
• Devised a flexible template fixed-term employment contact which allowed the employer to second employees to group companies all over the world, for any period of time.
• Advised on the application of TUPE to a large outsourcing project and secured appropriate protection for our client in the contractual documentation.
• Successfully defended an unfair dismissal and disability discrimination claim.
• Trained a client’s managers on how to effectively manage and fairly dismiss under performing employees.
Rebecca is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and in her spare time, Rebecca energetically enjoys running and cycling.
